Questions and Answers:

Q: When is the best time to have a 3-D Ultrasound?

A: A 3-D Ultrasound may be performed from 25 – 32 weeks, although the best time is 26 – 28 weeks. The outcome of this type of sonography depends on numerous factors including the individual and fetal position.

Q: When can the sex of my baby be determined?

A: In most cases the sex of your baby can be determined beginning around 18 weeks of gestation.

Q: Will my insurance cover this service?

A: No, insurance does not cover this type of services. Thus we require cash payment in full prior to services being rendered.

Q: When should I schedule my 3-D Ultrasound?

A: Our appointments fill up fast, we highly recommend calling 5-6 weeks in advance.

Q: Do I need a full bladder for this Ultrasound?

A: No, a full bladder is not necessary for this type of Ultrasound.

Q: Can I bring guests to view my Ultrasound?

A: We would love for you to bring guests! We ask that you keep it to a maximum of 5 guests per accommodations in our Ultrasound room. Please make sure your guests arrive on time. We try very hard to run on schedule for all of our appointments. We reserve the right to cancel your appointment due to tardiness.

Q: What is the difference between 3-D and 4-D Ultrasound?

A: 4-D is 3-D plus time, meaning that you will see your baby moving as if you were watching a video.

Q: Will my doctor receive a report?

A: It is imperative that you read through and completely agree with our 3-D Waiver and Release form prior to your appointment (a copy of this waiver is available below). This service is not a diagnostic Ultrasound by any means; therefore your physician will not receive a report from our staff.

Q: Do you charge more for twins and when is the best time to schedule my appointment?

A: The best time for the 3-D Ultrasound if you are carrying twins is 23-24 weeks. Our elective 3-D services are not based on the number of babies a customer is carrying; rather, it is based on the amount of time we spend generating images and preparing your selected package. Please refer to the package pricing above for pricing. Please refer to our 3-D Waiver and Release regarding image quality and quantity questions.

Q: Will my pictures look as good as my friends?

A: Our certified Sonographers are trained and experienced. They will make every effort to get the best picture possible of your child. However, there are some factors beyond our control that affect the outcome, such as:

  • Fetal Position: At times, the baby’s limbs can be in front of the face.
  • Gestational Age: The bigger the baby, the more difficult it is to see. Furthermore, if the head is already engaged in the pelvis, this also makes it difficult to see with 3-D imaging.
  • Amniotic Fluid: A sufficient amount of amniotic fluid is necessary to gain quality photos. Keeping yourself hydrated will increase the odds of capturing an excellent 3-D image of your child.

Q: Is 3-D Ultrasound safe?

A: We use the finest technology in 3-D Ultrasound, a Voluson E8 to be exact. Ultrasound technology has a history of over 30 years and has been the subject of numerous clinical studies and has not been shown to cause any harm to mother or baby. If you have any questions we urge you to speak with your licensed physician.
